International
Horse Show
Odyssey Arena, Belfast
Friday 24th Oct 2008

Last
year the pupils in Year 8 raised money for different charities, one of those
charities was the NSPCC. As a thank you, the NSPCC gave the school tickets
to see the International Horse Show on Friday 24th October. Some of the top
collectors were invited to attend. The show took place at the Odyssey Arena
in Belfast.

The first display was the young riders, age 12 and under. They were really
good at show jumping even though they were very young. Sometimes they ran
into the jumps, giving everyone a fright as they thought the horse was injured,
but they kept galloping.
At the interval we had a chance to buy souvenirs from
the stalls around the stadium.
When
the show started again we saw amazing acts including a French man, Jean-François
Pignon, who trained horses big and small without whipping or using ropes. One
of his acts was to stand on the horses’ backs as they moved around the
arena.

We
enjoyed our day out and learned many things about horses.
We would like to thank the teachers and the NSPCC for this enjoyable day.
