Link with St Clare's
We continue to have a very strong I.C.T. link with St Clare's Primary School.
There are frequent emails sent between the two schools as well as the occasional video conference.

The two schools have produced a joint Powerpoint presentation which is all about Ireland.

The schools had a face to face meeting in Carlingford. The children are pictured rock climbing on the left.

  The Wizard of Oz
On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th December 2003, the children took to the stage to present 'The Wizard of Oz' to a packed Annaghmore Parish Church Hall. The audience of approximately 400, made up from the whole community, were enthralled as every child in the school, from Reception to P7 took to the stage and played his or her part superbly. Mrs McClenaghan (S.E.L.B. Chief Executive) also attended and was full of praise for both the children and the staff. The performance will live long in the memory of those who attended and over £1,200 was raised for the school funds. The staff would like to sincerely thank our main sponsors for the event and encourage you to support them in the same way that they have supported us.

Thanks from Cheryl's Children's Home
Annaghmore Primary School pupils raised £500.00 for a Kenyan orphanage. Cheryl's Children's Home is on the outskirts of Nairobi. In 2002 the home was visited by a group of Portadown Boys' Brigade officers, who brought a number of items donated by Annaghmore families. The school followed this up by making Cheryl's Children's Home the chief beneficiary of their 2003 fund-raising efforts.
£500.00 was raised at two special Harvest assemblies, the annual carol service, and a shop in which in which items donated were sold back to pupils' parents and friends.
Kevin Waithaka
Kevin Waithaka (pictured right) is one of the orphans who will benefit directly from the money raised. Kevin was brought to the home having been placed on a local bus with a one-way ticket. Here he is seen proudly sporting his Annaghmore sweatshirt. Some of the money raised will be used to create a mini farm at the orphanage where the children can learn to grow crops for food, leaving them better prepared for adulthood.

  African Children's Choir
Annaghmore Primary School enjoyed the unique sights and sounds of Africa when the African Children's Choir paid them a visit. The choir called at the school to give the pupils the chance to learn a few African words, play snake drums and dance in authentic grass skirts.
The main aim of the visit was to encourage the children to understand those from different backgrounds.
The African children spent quite a bit of time in the classrooms and shared in meals and playtime.
Thanks to the generosity of the parents of Annaghmore, each African child was given a present and the choir showed their gratitude by singing a special blessing for the school.

Cross Community
Pupils of Annaghmore Primary School recently enjoyed an exchange event with a primary school from across the border. St. Clare's Primary School, Dublin, has been in constant correspondence with the year 4 and 5 children at Annaghmore via video conference and email all year.
Annaghmore children enjoyed a trip to the Dublin school where they enjoyed a taste of the city life. Annaghmore Primary School then returned the favour by hosting St. Clare's and showing their southern visitors a slice of rural life in County Armagh.
Principal Mr Stephen Blevins said "The children have really learned a lot from this experience. They have gained an insight into the lives of children the same age from a different country and culture. Yet despite these differences they learned how, as children, they were alike in many ways and still enjoyed the same things. Friendships have been made and parents have been in full support of the project. The welcome we received when we travelled to St. Clare's was exceptional, and we did our best to return that".

  TV stars for a day
Annaghmore Primary School pupils are pictured at the UTV studios. The pupils were welcomed by Julian Simmons and met a number of other UTV presenters prior to becoming presenters themselves!!
