School Dinners
School dinners cost £2.10, or meals to the value of £2.10 are provided if your child is eligible for free school meals.

Communication
Communicating effectively with the parents of 550 pupils is not easy. It is expensive to post all that is needed. We are trying to move towards e-mail and to this end the school is participating in a project called ParentMailÔ . This would enable us, in theory at least, to communicate those little things which do not necessarily warrant a phone call. If you are interested please send your e-mail address to the school office, or email us at:

School Web Site
We are seeking to make the school site more interactive and pupil-friendly. I have asked the pupils to contribute to it rather in the way they might do to a magazine. If they have done anything exciting or out of the ordinary or won something please encourage them to bring their contributions to Alison Quin, our IT technician.

Personal Safety
Pupils have been told to wear school uniform on the journey home; to try, as far as possible to go home with others and to take heed of your instructions with regards to getting home. They have been told that any pupil who misses a lift or a bus or who messes up their arrangements is to come back into school and we will ensure their safe way home.

Mobile phones
Mobile phones are not permitted in school. They are attractive to thieves, the constant ‘texting’ is a source of bullying and is leading to endless arguments and it is clearly not appropriate for pupils to contact people outside school during school hours. In exceptional circumstances a pupil may be allowed a phone on the day of, for example, an after school activity. A letter from you to obtain a pass is required. Any phone in use during the school day will be confiscated and returned to you.

Reading
We have on on-going reading initiative to try to encourage pupils to read. All pupils are expected to carry a novel and especially on Thursdays when we have a whole school reading period. Reading well, raises achievements in all subjects. I would encourage you to spend 15 minutes a day listening to your son/daughter read - it really does make a difference.
