At
Killicomaine JHS we believe it is never too early to get a
few qualifications.
Our
Year 10 pupils get a chance to do the OCR CLAIT Stage 1 exam.
:: :: ::
CLAIT stands for Computer Literacy and Information Technology.
This
gives every pupil a chance to achieve a recognised IT qualification
before leaving our school.
Killicomaine
is an OCR approved centre.
:: :: ::
The school is authorised to offer specified OCR qualifications.
The
aim of this award is to assess the pupils' ability to use a range
of computer applications effectively.
:: :: ::
Pupils study word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
Pupils
gain experience working with both Windows and Macintosh operating
systems.
Within
each application area, exam candidates are required to enter
and manipulate data to a specified degree of accuracy.
:: :: ::
They are required to edit, save and print data according to
specifications.
This
is an excellent and widely recognised qualification, which
will be useful for our pupils when they enter employment.
We
have a 90% pass rate.
:: :: ::
That means 90% of pupils leave our school (at age 13-14) already
having achieved a commercially recognised IT qualification.
