In
October 2008 all the 8th year pupils went on a school trip
to the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh.
We
also went into various small shops which showed us how things
were in the olden days.
In
some of the cottages we visited we were given samples of food
to taste such as pumpkin pie and champ.
\
The fun things which we did were barn dancing, pulling apples
with our mouths from a long piece of string, ducking for apples
and ducking for sweets in a bowl of oats.
We
also threw a piece of apple skin behind us to see what shape
of a letter it made. That letter was supposed to be the initial
of the name of the person you would marry.
