Early morning diary of our appearance on UTV Daybreak!

5.45 am
Everyone met outside school to start our journey to the Daybreak Studio’s in Belfast. None of us looked like morning lovers, even the teachers! Roy started the mini bus and we were on our way…. Belfast bound.

6.30 am
We arrived outside the studio, near the city centre and it was really quiet, no traffic or anything! They opened the doors and we all went into the studios where the Director and Paul Reilly, the local newsreader welcomed us and made us tea and coffee.

6.45 am
All of us watched Paul Reilly rehearse and go live to read the news in the ‘Green Room’. It was so cool just standing there watching, as he was live on TV. He was very professional and focused even with us as an audience.

7.55 am
It was time to get ready for our Cool before School slot.  Our ear pieces and microphones at the ready! …. ‘Over to Belfast in 3, 2,1 on air’… Best experience ever! On LIVE TV. We felt nervous and hardly talked but everyone gets nervous… Adrian and Christine made us feel at ease as they chatted during the commercial breaks to us…   When we went live Christine and Adrian asked a lot of different questions to what we had rehearsed, this was daunting but I think we coped OK with our debut! At least we remembered to say the famous line “NOW THAT WAS COOL, NOW GO TO SCHOOL!!”
