We
visit Dublin for our 10th year history field trip.
Year 10 pupils study the history of Ireland between the years 1800
and 1921. This incorporates the story of the Easter Rising which
took place in Dublin in 1916.

Dublin is one of our most breathtaking trips. We see famous
landmarks such as the General Post Office in O'Connell Street, the
Four Courts and St. Stephen's Green. Kilmainham Jail is where the
rebels were taken immediately after the failure of the Easter rising.
We stand outside the very cell where Patrick Pearse was imprisoned
before being executed. Indeed we stand at the door of the cells
where all the rebel leaders were held prior to their execution.
Even more moving is when we are taken to the execution yard and
are placed on the very spot on which the rebels were placed before
the firing squad. The atmosphere is unbelievable.
