The Trade Game

Year 10 pupils have been studying development. The classes recently participated in THE TRADING GAME which is designed to illustrate the way in which the process of trading tends to benefit the already powerful wealthy MEDC's. (More economically developed) to the detriment of the L.E.D.C's (less economically developed).

Pupils were put into groups and each group was assigned to a different country, some LEDC's and some MEDC's.

JAPAN
USA
NIGERIA
BRAZIL
BANGLADESH
BURMA

Pupils in each class were assigned the role of BANKERS.

The objective of each country was to make as much wealth for itself as possible by manufacturing paper shapes. Some countries had a lot of Technology i.e. rulers, scissors, pencils etc. whilst other countries had only raw materials i.e. paper. The countries had to trade with each other for the things they needed.
