On
Thursday 25th March, 144 8th and 9th year pupils went to Queen's
Film Theatre in Belfast for a specially arranged screening
of the excellent French comedy "Asterix et Obelix - Mission
Cleopatra". This is a fast paced, visually stunning and
very funny film based on the ever-popular comic books.
In spite of having to read all the subtitles, the pupils thoroughly
enjoyed the visit and it was an excellent introduction for
many to foreign language films.
Basically this is the plot:
Cleopatra bets Caesar that if she builds the most magnificent
palace possible for him within three months then he must admit
publicly that the Egyptian people are the greatest of all
people. It is a deadline that is impossible to meet without
a miracle!
Edifis, the chosen architect enlists the help of Asterix,
Obelix and their faithful friend Getafix, guardian of the
Magic Potion, which increases the strength of all the workers,
and the project is completed on time.
The film has a great cast, including Gerard Depardieu as Obelix
and Christian Clavier as Asterix, and was filmed on location
in Malta and Morocco. |
