Killicomaine go to Cinderella

Cinderella at the Grand Opera House

On Thursday 9th January 2003 most of the 8th year travelled by bus to the Grand Opera House in Belfast to see "Cinderella". We couldn't wait to get there because Sam (Scott Wright) out of Coronation Street would be starring as Prince Charming. The journey seemed to take forever.

When we eventually entered the theatre it was surprising to see lots of other schools there too. We sat down and waited patiently together for the pantomime to start.

We were all very excited when the curtains opened up and the pantomime began. There were lots of different coloured lights that shone down brightly. There were many comic moments which had the audience (teachers too) in stitches.

During the break we were able to buy sweets. The queues were really long, though it was worth it for some ice-cream! The break lasted about 15 minutes and we were all keen to get back inside to see if Cinderella made it to the ball.

After the interval the pantomime continued. The Ugly sisters were very ugly, very mean to poor Cinders, but mostly they were very, very funny. They were our favourite characters. It was really cool how laser lights were used to show how the mice and pumpkin were transformed into Cinderella's coach. In the last scene, Cinderella's ball dress was very beautiful.

After the pantomime we all got back onto the bus and travelled back to school. We had a brilliant day and thought the show was fantastic!!
